TCA, NITL Places Renewed Focus on Voluntary Guide to Business Relations for Shippers, Receivers, Carriers, and Drivers to Retain Workforce

Most recently, Congress and the Biden Administration, through their bipartisan support of the Ocean Shipping Reform Act, have recognized the need for more balanced coordination to better facilitate relations between shippers, receivers, motor carriers, and professional truck drivers.


The Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) and The National Industrial Transportation League (NITL) are pleased to contribute to this effort with a recently revised version of its Voluntary Guide to Good Business Relations for Shippers, Receivers, Carriers, and Drivers.

This guide, written in September of 2000 and revised in 2013 to better reflect a more complex operating environment, emphasizes reasonable and common-sense treatment of the four primary parties involved in truck transportation, and outlines mutually desirable business practices that TCA and NITL believe responsible shippers, receivers, carriers, and drivers should adopt. As supply chains face increased disruptions, we believe this guide is more relevant now than ever.

Women In Trucking Association - July 2022 Member of the Month Nona Larson

The Women In Trucking Association (WIT) has announced Nona Larson as its July 2022 Member of the Month. Nona is the Director of Customer Experience at PACCAR Parts, a division of PACCAR, Inc. Nona was also a 2022 Top Woman to Watch in Transportation.


Since Nona was a kid, she has always wanted to know how things work. She grew up playing with Tonka trucks and working on cars with her dad. It was a source of confidence for her to know how to fix her car. Nona’s desire to understand how things work led her to engineering.

Operation Safe Driver Week 2022

We are nearing the end of Operation Safe Driver Week 2022 (July 10-16). The goals of Operation Safe Driver Week are to:

  • Alter drivers’ unsafe driving behaviors by having a high-visibility law enforcement presence on our roadways.
  • Change bad driving habits long term through interactions with law enforcement.
  • Provide commercial motor vehicle driver education and awareness programs to the motor carrier population.
  • Reduce the number of crashes on our roadways.
